The Cal Poly Pomona PolySec Lab’s NexGen Wireless initiative spearheads research in machine learning and AI for next-generation wireless systems with a security focus. We develop intelligent algorithms for 5G network monitoring, anomaly detection, and attack mitigation, and advance secure satellite communication protocols. Our work also targets eVTOL and UAV/drone detection—leveraging AI-powered RF analysis, sensor fusion, and behavioral modeling to identify threats, spoofing, and hijacking attempts. Through integrating wireless intelligence and robust defense strategies, the initiative enhances resilience across interconnected aerial and space communication infrastructures against evolving cyber-physical threats.
